5 things to do this autumn

Autumn has already knocked on the door and it would be a shame not to enjoy the possibilities it offers. I have a few tips for you for fulfilling and original autumn activities.

1 - Have a weekend holiday in a cottage.

I love staying in cottage especially in autumn or winter. Both of these seasons are great for making a few day rest at somewhere in the countryside because it is colder outside and what could be better than drinking a cup of coffee at the fireplace looking outside at the colourful autumn trees. In autumn, the weather is mild which means during the day you can stay outside in the garden reading a book on a or simply make a barbecue at the fire. Moreover, the nature gets silent due to the departure of many birds so you can simply meditate and enjoy the silence. I recently had a very busy work time and going after for a few days to cottage completely recharged my batteries and filled me with new energy. Do not forget the mental detoxication is equally important as the physical one. If you live in a town or city, make sure you regularly spend some time away from it.

2 – Watch the colourful autumn sunsets with a cup pf herbal tea in the hand

Sky is no prettier in other season. Did you know, that at the turn of seasons the sunsets are most beautiful. And that is one of the things I love about autumn. The colourful skies contrast with the shining colours of trees and offer us beautiful scenery to lay our eyes upon. Many of us do not like the shorter days so why not make the day nicer by looking at the beautiful sunsets.

3 – Prepare a fresh home-made apple juice

Autumn harvest is here with a plenty of healthy fruit and vegetable, so we can continue stocking our bodies with vitamins and nutrients we will need in the winter. One of my all time favourites is the grandfather’s homemade apple juice which he would prepare for us every autumn from his rich apple harvest. With no conservants, colours or additives. Just a pure healthy cup of fresh pressed apples makes my day brighter. You can prepare it at home, too. Apples are ideal low calorie snack that will not affect your body shape. Fresh home made apple juice will reduce your blood pressure, strengthen your teeth and improve your mood.

4 – Go for a bike ride in the park

Staying active is the base of a healthy lifestyle and the key to a long happy life. One of my tips for an autumn activity is a bike ride in a park. If you do not have one, borrow it for a small fee from the bicycle hire points or simply ask a friend for help. Walk is a good idea, too. It is the most natural movement for our bodies. Enjoy it in the park, forest, river bank or at the lake, watch the autumn colours and breathe mild air with the touch of soft sun rays.

5 – Dry some fruit for the winter.

Dried fruit is a great addition to your morning yoghurt, evening snack or pies. Did you actually know that during the process of fruit drying minimal of its nutrients are lost? Make sure you have enough for the long winter. No need to have special gadgets. Simply, spread the tinny chopped pieces on the baking paper at home and dry in the oven at the temperature of 170OC for about 5-8 hours. After drying, let I rest for another 12 hours and then store in dry glassy jars in a dry and cold place.
