Original hand-made pencil cup
Have you
recently come across an old trousers or a T-shirt and were about to put it in
the bin? And how a bout those old glassy jars standing on the kitchen cabinet
under the dust?
They do not
necessarily have to end in a bin. There are actually plenty of things that we daily
get rid of because we think they will not be useful anymore. But that is not
true.
Do not be
afraid to use them again for example to create a nice home decoration or a
useful practical accessory. Actually, it will not take much time and do not
worry you do not need to have the artistic skills of Leonardo Da Vinci.
Have a look
at the pencil cup which I have prepared today. It is actually made of secondary
material that I used again and created that lovely pen cup.
I love hand-made. There is a story behind every hand-made product, there is time spent, effort and creativity. When you create something on your own, you will get that feeling, too.
Here are
the instructions for creating that lovely pen cup which you can see on the
photo.
You will
need:
- 1 old glassy
jam jar
- 2
different old fabrics (T-shirt, trousers) or more
- glue
- scissors
- pencil
- tape measure
Method of
preparation:
1. Firstly,
measure the outside width (around the jar) and length (from top to bottom) of
the jar that you will use.
2. When you
have the dimensions, draw a rectangle on one fabric having these dimensions and
cut it out.
3. Glue the
fabric on the whole jar. Now we have the base.
4. Draw 2
rectangles on the other fabric reducing the original length dimension by 70 %.
Basically that we are preparing the side fabric on the top and on the bottom
(see the picture) so these side parts should be much shorter.
5. Cut the
two rectangles the fold it in and glue it on the top and bottom of the jar.
6. Finally
you can create your centre decoration – a heart, circle, flower … by drawing it
on the fabric, cutting it out and gluing it on the jar.
