Second-hands are not that great choice as I had thought before
It has
become a habit for me to visit a second-hand now and then. Every time I went
there I was excited about fishing for various types of different clothes, each
of which was different. Shopping in second-hands is definitely different than
shopping in a mall or a casual shop – from the clothes through the atmosphere to
the shopping process.
I would
call it – looking for a needle in a bottle of hay. If you happen to find that
lovely blouse of yours, you may be disappointed to find that it actually does
not suit you or that there is a missing velvet or a hole on the sleeve. And if
you are lucky, you will face the dilemma of deciding whether buying it at that
price will pay off in th e end compared to buying a new one.
That is why,
after some time, I switched to shopping in second-hands only when there is a
sale. Hmm, sounds a good decision, unless you end up with buying more staff
than you initially planned. So, you spend more money than you would have done if you had bought
just one or two pieces at a new collection price.
Do not turn shopping into an obsession.
But why I actually
started to think about the issue and came to the conclusion that second-hands
are better to be avoided was when my wardrobe capacity reached its maximum and
I was forced to sort out the unnecessary items. Believe me I found some pieces
which I even did not wear, some at which I actually asked myself: Did I really
buy this? Moreover, I found that even those nice items got overworn and shabby after just
one washing and could not be worn again. So they ended up in a bin. And lets be
honest to ourselves, that is not a wise recycling, that is so often associated with using secondary goods.
No, I did
not stop visiting second-hands as you might have thought when you started to
read this article, however, I am more careful when shopping - I tend to visit
them occasionally at a sale period, always buy just what I really need, I ignore
the cool music when trying out the staff 😊 and bring a friend of mine to advise me if the thing really suits me.
Recently I went
to a summer sale in the shopping mall and found that new, nice and not used clothes
were actually cheaper than those in second hands. So sometimes it is really
better to buy what you long for in the store. To really think wisely when
shopping, because especially us woman often succumb to the wise marketing
tricks of the sellers. Eventually, you will save that extra Euro, keep your
wardrobe fit and serve our nature, too 😊 Do not turn shopping into an obsession.
