Dry Flowers and Feng Shui
I have recently come across the idea of whether dry
flowers would bring bad Feng Shui to my home. I thought so, as dry flowers
are something dead and death is generally considered as something negative. To be
honest, I was a bit desperate when searching for the answer. But finally, I
found it and it. But …
for those of you, who have not yet had the chance to
familiarize them with Feng Shui, let me briefly introduce you to this 6000-year
old ancient art and science which was based on the knowledge and studies from
many disciplines such as philosophy, astrology, physics, or astronomy.
Good Feng Shui means good fortune. On the other hand,
bad Feng Shui means bad fortune. Feng Shui is the art of placing yourself and the
objects in the environment that surround you (at your home, office, or garden)
in a specific position which will result in their mutual balance and bring harmony
and good fortune to your home and fill it with good energy. To be precise, that
good fortune may not be reflected only at your home´s positive atmosphere, but also
in success and happiness in your career, love life or health so maybe it is really
something worth your attention.
Let´s get back now to the former question of whether
dry flowers would be something good from the Feng Shui perspective. To find
the answer is difficult as many sources propose different opinions.
There is one group of Feng Shui believers whose answer
to that question is yes. They say dry flowers are not good idea for your home
and you should avoid placing them as a decoration. They believe dry flowers are
associated with death and decay and therefore lower the positive vibes and good
fortune. They do not have more vitality and will take the vitality out of your
environment.
Some people argue that if dry flowers are bad Feng
Shui and we should get rid of them, should we also get rid of the furniture
which was also made from died plants? Well, that is a good point but we should
not approach them as two same things as the furniture is a result of processing
and by regular maintenance it stays fresh and nice.
Those who believe dry flowers are good Feng Shui say
that if the flowers were a special gift given to us by a loved person and we
have a positive relationship to it, we cannot speak of it as a Bad Feng Shui.
I personally agree with the first group. I believe
dry flowers are a Bad Feng Shui. Yes, I had those dried roses hanging on the
door, they were a nice gift from my husband for my birthday but to be honest
when I looked at them they do not look and smell nice, collect dust and frankly,
I prefer to remember them fresh and red as on the day I got them. I decided to
remove them from my home and I feel the home is more vital.
Well, now you may be confused and wondering where the
truth is. Well, I have this answer for you. It is about how you personally feel
about your dry-flower-decoration, if it evokes nice feelings in you and makes
you feel comfortable, keep it. However, if you feel something is disturbing you
in your place, look for the dried flowers. Listen to your inner voice. As one old
Feng Shui saying says:
"Trust what your heart is thinking."
